Pre-Rolls

Definition: Pre-rolls are joints that come already rolled and ready to smoke, sold by dispensaries in single packs or multi-packs. They’re filled with ground cannabis flower, usually in a cone-shaped paper with a filter tip. Some are “infused” with concentrates like kief or distillate, which makes them much stronger.
What Are the Types of Pre-Rolls?
- Standard pre-rolls: ground flower only, typically half a gram to one gram
- Infused pre-rolls: flower combined with concentrates like kief, distillate, or live resin, often with far higher THC
- Minis or dogwalkers: small, single-session joints, often around 0.3 to 0.5 grams
- Blunts: rolled in a tobacco-leaf or hemp wrap instead of paper
What’s Inside a Pre-Roll?
Quality varies. Some brands grind whole buds, while others use “shake” or trim, the smaller leftover pieces from processing, which can taste harsher and burn less evenly. Check the label for the strain, THC percentage, total weight, and whether it’s flower-only or infused. Lab-tested products from licensed retailers are the safest bet.
How Do You Smoke a Pre-Roll?
Gently pack the tip if it’s loose, then light the end evenly while slowly rotating it. Take short, gentle puffs. If it starts to burn unevenly, or “canoe,” touch the flame to the slower side. With infused pre-rolls, take smaller hits and wait before taking more.
How Do You Store Pre-Rolls?
Keep them in their airtight tube, in a cool, dark place, so they don’t dry out and lose terpenes.
