Sativex

Sativex

Sativex is a brand name for nabiximols, a cannabis-based medicine that is used to treat muscle stiffness and spasms (spasticity) caused by multiple sclerosis (MS). It is a spray that is administered under the tongue (oromucosal). Sativex contains two cannabinoids, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD), in equal proportions.

Sativex is thought to work by interacting with the endocannabinoid system, which is a network of receptors and signaling molecules that is found throughout the body. The endocannabinoid system plays a role in a variety of physiological functions, including pain, inflammation, and mood.
