An aerosol is a suspension of fine solid particles or liquid droplets in air or another gas. Aerosols can be natural or anthropogenic. Natural aerosols include sea spray, dust, pollen, and smoke from wildfires. Anthropogenic aerosols include smoke from cigarettes, car exhaust, and industrial emissions.

Aerosol medications are medications that are delivered to the lungs in the form of a mist or aerosol. They are commonly used to treat respiratory conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and cystic fibrosis.
